Come

Today’s Verse:

Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness. ~Isaiah 55:1-2

The word “come” is mentioned four times between vs. 1-3. It is an open invitation for those who realize that something is missing in their life to find their fulfillment and satisfaction in the Lord. This morning, hearken to the Lord’s call for finding real satisfaction in Him.

There is the serious deficiency.

The beckoning is for those who realize that they have a deep spiritual thirst that this life cannot satisfy. It is a beckoning to those who hunger in their soul for the hunger within them. It is a beckoning for those who are willing to spend what money they have to find peace in their lives, but cannot find it. It is a realization that they are craving for something that will satisfy their soul. They have come to the place in life where they realize that money cannot buy them happiness. They realize that good works cannot earn them peace. What they need cannot be obtained in the open market through monetary transactions or bartering. They have come to the place in life of realizing they need the Lord.

There is the special discovery.

They have discovered that they must come to the end of themselves. They have committed their faith in the Lord and His ability to take care of all their soul needs. There is only one water source that satisfies your thirst: that source is the living water that only Jesus gives. They have discovered “they can buy wine and milk without money and without price”. Eternal satisfaction and peace is only attainable through faith in the Lord. Each person must discover we must come to God on His terms and not ours. We must hearken diligently unto the Lord and eat that which is good.

There is the satisfying delight.

When we place our faith in the Lord, we are partakers of that which is good. Our soul delights in fatness or richness. Our soul has discovered true life and meaning. We have ceased from our wandering and going astray. We have discovered the way of gladness and joy. There is true peace, and true fulfillment. Our life has purpose and direction. Satisfaction is not found in the world or selfish aggrandizement. It is not found in indulging our cravings in physical highs. No, true satisfaction is found in coming to the Lord in faith and knowing He alone is the pearl of great price that we will give everything we have to attain.

Don’t let Satan and the world fool you into thinking that it has something to offer you. Come to the Lord just as you are and accept His grace and mercies as the only resource that can satisfy your soul needs. If you are not saved, receive by faith the gift of eternal life that Jesus gives. If you are saved and have been eating and drinking from the water fountain of this world, come back to the Lord and find your delight in Him.

Have a soul-satisfying God morning!
