And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day. ~Genesis 1:31
As Christians, we believe in the Genesis account that God is our Creator. Dr. George Wald (co-Nobel Prize winner in Biology and professor of Biology at Harvard) said: “There are only two possibilities as to how life arose; one is spontaneous generation arising to evolution, the other is a supernatural creative act of God, there is no third possibility. Spontaneous generation, that life arose from non-living matter, was scientifically disproved 120 years ago by Louis Pasteur and others. That leaves us with only one possible conclusion—that life arose as a creative act of God. I will not accept that philosophically because I do not want to believe in God, therefore I choose to believe in that which I know is scientifically impossible, spontaneous generation arising to evolution.” [In Search of Certainty, Josh McDowell and Thomas Williams]
This morning, we glorify God, Who is our Creator. Hebrews 11:3 tells us, “Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.” Creation is an open-and-shut case.
Psalm 19:1-3 tells us, “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge. There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard.” Creation is the best testimony and witness of itself. Consider the majesty of the heavens, the stars in their place, the divisions of the day, and the various weather patterns. How do you explain the uniqueness of the human body? How do you explain the greatness of the oceans and biology? The proof in creation points to a Creator God.
Creation itself shows the power of God. God just spoke the word and the world came into existence. God Himself is supernaturally in control of all things. Think of the power of the sunrays. Think of the power in a hurricane. Think of the power generated from hydro-energy. Creation points to the power of God. Nehemiah 9:6 tells us, “Thou, even thou, art LORD alone; thou hast made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth, and all things that are therein, the seas, and all that is therein, and thou preservest them all; and the host of heaven worshippeth thee.” God created all things Himself! He did not require assistance of any kind. There is the power of God in creation.
Creation demands our praise to God! Creation itself compels us to honor God for the beauty, majesty, and wonderfulness that we behold and enjoy. Our prayer time should start with the worship of God as our Creator. Our need for the greatness of God to work on our behalf should point back to His power in creation.
Let us remember that God called everything that He created very good. It was made in perfection, without flaw, and in complete majesty. Take a moment to thank the Lord for giving evidence that He alone is God and is deserving of our complete adoration.
