Are You Ready?

Today’s Verse:

Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh. ~Matthew 24:44

We live in a very busy and time-pressured society. Whenever we are responsible for taking other people with us to an appointment or special event, we find ourselves asking each other, “Are you ready?” When special church events occur, we ask each other as the start time nears, “Are you ready?” This morning, that is the major question of the day: are you ready? There are some things that are ready that demand our immediate attention and some things that we must be on a constant state of alert for.

The fields are ready for reaping.

John 4:35 says, “Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.” Jesus spoke these words to His disciples 2,000 years ago! The fields are ready to harvest. Gospel preaching and church planting opportunities await us. Whether here in America or on foreign soil, the harvest is waiting for laborers who will do it. We need to lift up our eyes and see the glistening of the field as it beckons out to us.

We must be ready in our responsibility.

In Romans 1:15, Paul said, “So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also.” Paul was determined to preach the gospel wherever he went. Danger, opposition, setbacks, or resistance did not slow him down or stop him. He was ready in his determination. Our mindset must be that time of the day, energy level, or anything else will not deter us from being ready to preach the gospel. Paul said, “So, as much as in me is....” He was always determined and ready.

We must be ready for His return.

In Matthew 24:44, Jesus reminds us to be ready for His coming. Jesus could come at any moment. His coming will be like a thief in the night. His coming will be sudden and in the twinkling of an eye. This readiness for His coming means we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present world. We must not be found in a compromising situation. We must not fail in our faith. We must watch and pray, lest we enter into temptation. We must abide in Him so that we will have confidence and will not be ashamed of Him at His coming.

The Father is ready.

The Father is ready to forgive us of our sins. He is ready to receive every sinner who calls on His name to be saved. He is ready to answer our prayers when they are in accordance with His will for us. He is ready to take every care that we place on Him, for He cares for us. The Father is ready to give us more grace. Yes, our Heavenly Father is ready. He never slumbers nor sleeps, but He is always ready.

Are you ready? Are you ready to take a step up in your Christian life? Are you ready to do something great for God? Are you ready to share the gospel with someone who needs to be saved? Are you ready to trust God with an area of your life where you have fear and unsettledness? Are you ready to be saved? Make today your day of decision!

Have a ready God Morning!
