Blessed Man

Praise ye the LORD. Blessed is the man that feareth the LORD, that delighteth greatly in his commandments. ~Psalm 112:1

This morning, we want to consider a psalm that should inspire every Christian man. It is a psalm that describes to us the benefit of being a man who fears God. Our society in which we live in frowns upon men who fear God and seek to honor Him. My desire is that every man who reads this devotion would decide to make this his life vision and goal.

We see the behavior of a God-fearing man.

A God-fearing man is a saved man. He is a man who has placed his faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior. He is also a man of the Scriptures. He is a man who delights greatly in the commandments of the Lord. He loves what God’s Word tells him. He delights in obeying the Word. He is a man of biblical conviction, and he is determined to live out what he is expected to do in the Word.

We see the blessings of a God-fearing man.

This man is blessed in his family. “His seed shall be mighty upon earth: the generation of the upright shall be blessed.” This man is blessed in his fortune. “Wealth and riches shall be in his house....” In the management of his finances, he places God first and as a result, God takes care of this man. This man is blessed in his fluorescence. “Unto the upright there ariseth light in the darkness....” God never leaves this man in the “dark.” God gives him enough light for the next step. God shows this man the “why” and “how” in his times of affliction. This man is blessed in his favor. He looks to use his financial blessings to helping others. He is prudent and careful. This man is blessed in his foundation. “Surely he shall not be moved forever.” This man is blessed in his fame. “The righteous shall be in everlasting remembrance.”

We see the boldness of a God-fearing man.

He is not afraid of evil tidings. Bad news, changes in circumstances, and evil uprisings do not make this man to flinch. His heart is fixed because of his trust in God. This man is a man of faith. His faith is unmovable. His faith looks beyond the present and sees the end result. God is always on the throne! All things work together for good to them that love God. His enemies see this man and realize that he has a faith that is strong. A God-fearing man has a rock-solid faith in Who God is.

It pays to be a God-fearing man. He is a man that is happy and blessed. He is a man who is holy and fruitful. Our society needs men who are God-fearing: men who cannot be sold out, men who stand when others run, men who launch out when others cut back, men who see opportunities when others see opposition, and men who fear God and not men.

Men, fear God! Men, the best thing that you can do for your family is be a God-fearing man.

Have a God-fearing God Morning!
