Carbon Copies

Today's Verse:

And I will come down and talk with thee there: and I will take of the spirit which is upon thee, and will put it upon them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with thee, that thou bear it not thyself alone…. And the LORD came down in a cloud, and spake unto him, and took of the spirit that was upon him, and gave it unto the seventy elders: and it came to pass, that, when the spirit rested upon them, they prophesied, and did not cease. ~Numbers 11:17, 25

A replication is making a copy of something else. It is the attempt to make an exact model of something. This sometimes is also called a carbon copy or a clone. Moses found himself in a difficult spot. He said, “I am not able to bear all this people alone, because it is too heavy for me” (v. 14). There was only one of him trying to minister to 3,000,000 people. That’s a lot of people to manage and problems to solve. God gave him a solution that still works today. God took of the spirit that was in Moses and gave it to 70 men of the elders of Israel to help spread the load. Let us see the importance of expanding godly influence in the lives of others.

There is the principle of influence.

Influence is affecting others to do something in accordance to a request or demand. It is a compelling factor in moving people to decide on something, to commit to something, or to change something. Influence can be commanding or corrupting. Influence can lead to passion, or it can lead to pressure. Influence can build or destroy. Influence can be positive or negative. Negative influence leads someone to do bad or evil things. Positive influence leads someone to do constructive, positive, and life-changing things. Influence moves one person or large bodies of people.

There is the power of influence.

As mentioned earlier, influence can be positive or negative. Politicians use influence to affect policies for a society. Lobbyists use their influence to persuade a politician to vote in favor or against certain legislations. Teachers use their influence to stimulate a student to achieve well academically. Parents use their influence to “train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Preachers use their influence to move a congregation to win souls and build a church. Soulwinners use their influence to help a sinner see his need for Christ and get saved. Influence is the power to make changes that will be long term in its impact!

There is the perpetuating of influence.

God told Moses that He would take of the spirit of Moses and place it upon the seventy elders. By doing so, these 70 men would be well able to carry the burden of the congregation with Moses. God never intended any leader to be a one-man show or gang. The greatest legacy and impact of a leader is how many other leaders he developed. How many men can help you extend your reach and influence to change a city, a society, and a sinful world? Can you imagine how powerful the influence of Moses was that God only needed 70 men of the elders of Israel to help spread his influence and minister effectively to 3,000,000 people? One of the greatest gifts God has given to a Spirit-anointed leader is his influence. Use your influence well! Use your influence to build up other men who will extend it to many others. Let your influence outlive you through men who believe and embrace the same passion and philosophy. Make sure that the godliness of your life is carbon copied into others.

What kind of person are you? What kind of influence do you have? Do you have a burden to take the things which you have heard among many witnesses and the same commit thou to faithful men who shall be able to teach others also?

Have an influential God Morning!
