Consider Him
Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus; ~Hebrews 3:1

As a pastor, I am very cognizant of many members who look to me for encouragement to get them through a trial or other difficulty. It is a very daunting responsibility to realize that my example, my words, and my prayers make such a difference in the life of someone who is hanging on a very thin line. The Apostle Paul reminds us that there is only one perfect model Whom we can look to and Who will never fail us. That model is the Person of our Lord Jesus Christ. Whereas it is very possible that I could fail someone, Jesus never fails us! This morning, let us consider the Lord Jesus Christ in all areas of our life.
Let us consider Him in His attributes.
Our attention is called to Jesus as God’s messenger. He is referred to as our Apostle. The word "apostle" refers to a messenger or special representative. As God incarnate, Jesus came as the living Word. He is referred to as God’s minister or High Priest. He is a merciful and faithful High Priest. He has such pity and concern for our need! How wonderful that the Creator of the universe came to minister to us. Think of how He took time for every person whose path crossed with His. Think of how He had time for every person. Think of how He gave beyond Himself to encourage every person. Consider Him in His attributes.
Let us consider Him in His atonement.
As a faithful priest, He made reconciliation for the sins of the people. Jesus gave Himself as a perfect sacrifice for our sins. He tasted death for every man. Unlike the Hebrew high priest who made sacrifices for the sins of both the people and himself, the Lord Jesus reconciled us unto Himself through His shed blood and death on the cross. Jesus gave the best and only acceptable sacrifice: He gave of Himself. He was the Lamb for sinners slain. So, when we consider Him, He went the distance for our sins. He satisfied all the righteous demands for the sin of the world. Consider Him in His atonement.
Let us consider Him in His assistance.
Jesus experienced every temptation, suffering, and trial that we might go through, yet without sin. He never failed a temptation or trial. In His perfection, Jesus is able to help us during our dark and difficult moments. He knows about every situation that we go through. He empathizes and sympathizes with all of our difficulties. I like the fact that He is able to succor or help us in all of our challenges. Consider Him in His assistance.
Don’t allow your failure, your setback, or challenges to overthrow your faith. Consider Jesus and how His power is able to help us regardless if we are backslidden, burdened, or broken. When our eyes are upon Him, we know that we can be fail-safe! When you experience your weakest moment, consider Him and how He makes possible victory through His faithfulness.
