Today's Verse:
Unto the upright there ariseth light in the darkness: he is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous. ~Psalm 112:4
Have you ever been at a place where you feel like you have been in the dark? By this, I mean you are uninformed or left clueless about something that others know about. Well, this morning God gives us the secret to how not to be in the dark when it comes to a life that He desires to bless.
We see his adoration.
“Praise ye the LORD. Blessed is the man that feareth the LORD, that delighteth greatly in his commandments.” The man who is blessed of God is a man who greatly fears the Lord. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. We are not biblically wise unless we fear and revere God for Who He is as our God, Creator, King, Savior, and Sustainer. When we have a proper fear of God, we give attention to the fact that our number one priority is to know the Lord. We can best know the Lord through a focus on our worship and adoration of Him. Those who rightly worship God never see the light in their life grow dim.
We see his authenticity.
“Unto the upright....” This word "upright" describes the spiritual and moral fiber of the man. He is an authentic Christian. He practices pure religion and undefiled before God. He is truthful and hates covetousness. He is separated from the world unto God. He lives a blameless life and maintains a conscience void of offense before God and man. He respects others, and others respect him. He is known for his righteousness and his godly faith. He is transparent and trustworthy. An authentic Christian is never in the dark when it comes to living a life that is pleasing to God.
We see his altruism.
“He is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous. A good man sheweth favour, and lendeth: he will guide his affairs with discretion.” This man is a very giving person. He has his heart and hand always ready to respond to the needs of others. He is kind, understanding, and sympathetic to the needs of others. He realizes that God has blessed him to be a blessing. In his mind, a giving spirit should be the norm and not the exception. He is sympathetic to the needs of the fatherless and the widows. He responds to requests for special offering. A giving Christian is never in the dark when it comes to helping others.
We see his apprehension.
“Unto the upright, there ariseth light in the darkness.” God always gives this man enough light for his next step. The midnight hour is when God speaks to him clearly about his perfect will and enlightens him during difficult trials. He has wisdom when the heaviness of a trial is beating down on him. He knows he can confidently trust the Lord for his future. He knows that all things work together for good to them that love God. He knows that we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us. When others might stumble in the darkness, this believer has God’s Word as a lamp unto his feet and a light to his path.
Don’t be in the dark! There arises light in the darkness when we live our lives in obedience and walk in the Spirit. God is always on time and never a moment too late when we need Him. Let your light so shine, so that the light you need in darkness is there when you need it most.
Have an enlightened God Morning!
