God is Good

Today's Verse:

For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations. ~Psalm 100:5

Worship is when we express our adoration, praise, and honor to God. The worship of God demands our words, works, and wealth. God is a Spirit, and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and truth. Psalm 100 is a delightful psalm of worship. 

We see the personification. 

“For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.” The psalmist is exalting the Lord for His mercy and truth. Both of these attributes reflect God in His person and how He works. God is all truth. “God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?” Truth is absolute. Truth is authentic. Truth is verifiable fact. Truth is God’s holiness revealed in Jesus and in His Word. Mercy is God’s divine pity. He gives us mercy when we deserve judgment. His mercy is everlasting. We see God exposing our sinfulness in truth and demanding justice on sin. On the other hand, we see God in His mercy extending divine pity and forgiveness to us. 

We see the possession. 

“Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.” God is our Creator. God is our Commander. God is the One Who is in control. As a result, we must understand our relationship to Him. We are His purchased possession. He made us, and when we accepted Christ as our personal Savior, we became His people and the sheep of His pasture. As part of His possession, we belong to Him. We are children of light and not children of darkness. As His sheep, we are to find our contentment and source of spiritual satisfaction in His pasture and not in the world. He has assumed full control over our lives and leads us in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake. 

We see the performance. 

“Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing.” God delights in us serving Him. Serving God is one of the powerful ways we worship Him. First, we must serve God with a positive and pleasing attitude. It is an honor for us to serve God. Second, we must serve God in our singing. God delights to hear our voices sing out songs of praise. Third, whenever we enter into His presence, it should be with thanksgiving. It is disgraceful for us to enter into God’s presence with a heart filled with self and complaining. Let us be thankful! 

We see the premium. 

God is good! When God made all of Creation, He beheld what He made and said, “It was very good.” Joseph said, “Ye thought evil against me, but God meant it unto good....” Paul said, “All things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” All the time God is good, and God is good all the time. God is better to us than we deserve. God is good at all times. Job said, “The LORD gave, and the LORD hath take away; blessed be the name of the LORD.” God is good when things are going well, and God is good when things are not going well. For every child of God, God is good! 

This morning, enter into God’s presence with thanksgiving and say, “God, You are good.”
