Golden Opportunities

Today’s Verse:

For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father's house shall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this? ~Esther 4:14

Golden opportunities are special moments that God allows in our life. These moments might be for a special word, a special deed, or a special action. Esther was a young woman who had a golden opportunity to speak a word on behalf of her people, the Jews. This morning, let us consider the golden opportunities that God gives to each of us.

There is the Source of these opportunities.

Every golden opportunity is a privilege from God. Esther was given a golden opportunity to speak a word for her people, the Jews. Solomon said, “A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps.” David said, “The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD.” There is no such thing as good luck or good fortune for the Christian. God is intricately involved in every area of our life. We must ask for wisdom and discernment to know when golden opportunities are sent our way. Remember that God sends them to us to show that He loves and trusts us.

There is the significance of these opportunities.

Some golden opportunities will be tied directly to our calling or a commandment of the Lord. For instance, Jesus told us to lift up our eyes and look on the fields for they are white already to harvest. The preaching of the gospel is a golden opportunity that we have during our lifetime. However, some opportunities might only be given to us once in a lifetime. Esther had such a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Mordecai asked her, “Who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” This opportunity would determine the fate of the Jewish people. This opportunity would be a testimony and inspiration for ages to come for people like you and me.

There is the stewardship of these opportunities.

Golden opportunities are an entrustment from God. The failure to take advantage of these opportunities is a failure of our stewardship. Responsible stewardship requires courage, discernment, prayer, and wisdom. We must exercise prudence in the power of the Spirit when going forward. We must seek to give God all of the glory for the outcome of these opportunities. Esther was afraid to speak a word, but Mordecai reminded her that God had raised her up for that moment. Perhaps God has raised you up for a golden opportunity that requires you to exercise the same courage and prudence.

Don’t bypass your golden opportunities! See them as God’s gift to you as a means of encouraging and blessing other people. See the golden opportunities as an entrustment of everything that God has given you for this moment. Seize the moment! Go forward in faith! Have faith in God! Live for the moment! Trust God to help you as you work for Him!

Have an opportunity-filled God Morning!
