Today's Verse:

But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory: ~1 Corinthians 2:7

Years ago, I spoke with a man about a unique service that he had to offer. He stated that his service was proprietary in nature. What he meant was that he owned it and had exclusive access to it. In a sense, he was saying that he had privileged information. This morning, we are considering “privileged information.” Paul refers to this privileged information as “hidden wisdom.”

We see the perfection in hidden wisdom.

“But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory....” This hidden wisdom is the wisdom of God. Hidden wisdom is as eternal as God Himself. It is wisdom that is beneficial to everyone who is able to receive it. It is the mind of God on matters. It is God giving us His final say and word of authority. It is wisdom that is reliable and never fails us. It is wisdom that is from above. It is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy (James 3:17).

We see the performance in hidden wisdom.

“But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.” Hidden wisdom is God’s enlightenment for the believer's spiritual life. First, hidden wisdom is the gospel which leads men to a saved life. Paul’s message was that men were sinners who needed to be saved. The plan of salvation shows us how our sin must be punished, how Jesus' shed blood and death on the cross paid the sin price for us, and how faith alone in Christ’s death and resurrection can save a sinner from his sins. This wisdom truly shows the way to be saved! Second, hidden wisdom is the pathway for the Spirit life. The Spirit life is walking in the Spirit. It is walking with God in His Word and spending time in prayer, worship, and acts of service. The Spirit life is the victorious life that God wants His children to have.

We see the personification of hidden wisdom.

“But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption....” (1 Corinthians 1:30). Hidden wisdom is our Lord Jesus Christ! Hidden wisdom is the gateway to understanding the things of God. Hidden wisdom has the goal, “That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death.” This hidden wisdom is about what Jesus did for us on the cross, what He is doing for us as He intercedes for us in Heaven, and what will be completed in us when we are in Heaven with Him.

Hidden wisdom is privileged information that God reveals and imparts to everyone who has received the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior. It is wisdom that is to be proclaimed through the preaching of the gospel. Let’s be thankful today that this hidden wisdom is all about our Lord Jesus!

Have a wise God Morning!
