Knowledge Is Power
But the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits. And they that understand among the people shall instruct many... ~Daniel 11:32b-33a
People in the business world have an axiom that says, “Knowledge is power.” This implies that knowledge gives the advantage to the one who has it. Obviously, knowing everything about your product and your competition makes you more competitive. This morning, we see a statement that was prophetic in nature and was proven true. This statement spoke of a future time when certain patriotic Jews would rise against a Syrian tyrant and overwhelmingly defeat him. It spoke of the powerful influence that these Jews would have. It is also a statement of promise for us to claim as we seek to be victorious in the Christian life.
We see the essential of a passionate relationship.
"The people that do know their God...." This speaks of a personal and growing relationship. Knowing God is beyond an intellectual knowledge. It speaks of a close and abiding relationship. It speaks of being able to have an audience with God. It refers to having a thorough acquaintance with God’s Person, power, and priorities. Knowing God is the highest priority of the Christian life. We know God as our Heavenly Father, our Creator, and our Savior. We must then face the question: how well do we know the Lord? This is the secret to a spiritual life that is always lived in victory.
We see the enablement of being powerfully robust.
"They shall be strong." This refers to strength that is inner and physical. This inner strength means that the person does not wilt under pressure or give up quickly. It refers to being strong in courage. It refers to being strong in patience. This strength absorbs but also withstands pressure. The knowledge of God strengthens the prayer life of the person. They are strong in the Scriptures. They are strong in finishing what they started. They are strong against the attack of the enemy. The person who knows his God is powerfully robust.
We see the exercise of practical risk.
"The people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits." The idea behind this is that the person is strong in the exercise of faith. Doing exploits means that they go beyond the norm. They are not afraid of attempting to do things that others will not try. They take risks that will set them apart in accomplishment. They take steps of great faith. They pray for things that are impossible. They stand up to the foes and trials in life and have faith in God for the outcome. The people who know their God will do exploits.
Knowing God gives us power! It gives faith. It gives courage. It gives us a great advantage against our enemies. It prompts us to proclaim the knowledge of God to others who do not know Him. Knowledge is power. Don’t settle for a casual or minimal relationship with God. Make it your goal to have a powerful and thorough knowledge of God, and see the difference that it makes in your spiritual product.
