No Equal

To whom then will ye liken me, or shall I be equal? saith the Holy One. Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who hath created these things, that bringeth out their host by number: he calleth them all by names by the greatness of his might, for that he is strong in power; not one faileth. ~Isaiah 40:25-26

Many people today are value shoppers. They do comparative shopping so that they may get the best bargain for their money. Some obsess over deals because bargains have become their means for saving money and/or time. During the time when Isaiah wrote the book named after himself, the nation of Israel thought that idol gods (made with their hands) were just like Jehovah God. They became obsessed with the worship of handmade gods and displaced the God Who loved them from His rightful place in their hearts. Our devotion this morning is a strong reminder from God Himself that He is God and there is no equal to Him.

We see His Person.

“To whom then will ye liken me, or shall I be equal? saith the Holy One.” “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth” (John 4:24). God is a Person beyond comparison. God is wiser than the wisest person. God is faithful in all that He does. He is a God of justice, but He is also a God of mercy. God is compassionate and longsuffering towards us. God is our Father Who allows us to call upon Him as Abba Father. He is not a God made with hands or Who can be seen. God cares about us and is intricately involved in the affairs of our life for His glory.

We see His power.

“Behold who hath created these things, that bringeth out their host by number.” There is no comparison to God when it comes to power. As Creator of everything, all power that we can understand comes from God. The power found in the strongest winds, the strongest storms, the mighty oceans, the rays of the sun, or the force of an earthquake cannot compare to God. His power opened up the Red Sea and enabled 3,000,000 Jews to cross on dry land. His power enabled Joshua to see the walls of Jericho topple without any human intervention. His power preserved three Hebrew young men from the fiery furnace. His power raised Jesus from the dead. God’s power is a power that cannot be compared.

We see His performance.

No one can outperform God! His love will never be outperformed when we think of Jesus being sent to die for our sins. His longsuffering towards us cannot be outperformed when we think of how patient He is. His answers to our praying cannot be outperformed when we think of how He is able to do exceeding exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think. God cannot be compared when it comes to His performance.

We see His preference.

All of the above is said so that we might grasp one thing: there should be no comparison when it comes to our preference or worship of God. We are to love God with all of our heart, mind, and soul. Our worship of God is not to be co-mingled with anything else. Our worship of God is not to be ignored or watered down. God is to be desired more than anything else. Let us be careful that we do not bring our preference for God to the level of comparison with anything else.

Is there any equal when it comes to God? Absolutely no! Determine today that God has your heart and that nothing will interfere with your desire for Him. There is no equal when it comes to God!

Have a worshipful God Morning!
