Once Broken, But Forever Whole

Today’s Verse:

And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague. ~Mark 5:34

I remember as a child learning and memorizing the nursery rhyme about Humpty Dumpty. When he fell off the wall, the rhyme says, “All the king’s horses and all the king’s men couldn’t put him together again.” Humpty Dumpty’s situation so much describes life in this world without the Lord Jesus Christ. This morning, we are studying the life of a person whose future outlook looked very bleak until she came in contact with Jesus. This morning, let us see a woman who was once broken but was forever made whole.

We see a debilitating CONDITION.

“And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years, And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse.” This woman had hemorrhaged for 12 years. She spent up her money trying to find medical help for her condition, but she only grew worse. She suffered physically. She was taken advantage of by these doctors. She may have been given false hopes. As time went by, she grew worse and worse. What a sad picture of this world. This world has no lasting answers for our problems, diseases, and distress. The so-called professionals take advantage of us and leave us in a worse condition. As with this woman, we are none the better, and only worse.

We see a determined CONFIDENCE.

Jesus was on a mission to the home of Jairus to help him with his daughter who was dying. This woman heard that Jesus would pass her way and she determined to get to Him. She determined that if she could get close enough, she would touch Him and be healed. This woman had incredible faith. Her faith began when she heard that Jesus was nearby. “Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Her faith was so strong that she believed that just one touch of His garment would change her condition. Do you have enough faith to come to Jesus to change your unchangeable situation?

We see a dynamic CURE.

“And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague.” The moment she got close enough to Jesus, she touched the border of His garment. As she did so, she knew at that moment she was healed completely of her sickness. Her pain and suffering were gone! Her misery was gone! The hemorrhaging stopped! What a picture of salvation! When a person gets saved, it is instantaneous. They are healed of their sins and spiritual ailments. The person is forgiven of all sins. The person is passed from death to life! It is a dynamic cure!

We see a directed CONVERSION.

“But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth. And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.” This woman’s life was changed forever. Getting saved is not a quick-fix solution: it is the entrance into a relationship with the One Who gave His life for us. This woman made a full confession of her situation, and that she was the one who touched Him. Jesus gave her assurance and direction for her future. First, He told her she had become one of God’s children. He called her “daughter.” Second, He told her she was made whole. Her broken life was made whole! Her plague would not condemn her ever again. When Jesus forgives us of our sin, our sins cannot condemn us. Then, He said, “Go in peace.” We are at peace with God, and possess the peace of God. She had a new life and a glorious direction.

Yes, the Lord specializes in taking things that are broken and making them whole. Have the faith like this woman to just touch the hem of His garment and allow Him to take control of whatever might have a stronghold in your life.

Have a faith-filled God Morning!
