Today’s Verse:

And Achish said, Whither have ye made a road to day? And David said, Against the south of Judah, and against the south of the Jerahmeelites, and against the south of the Kenites. ~1 Samuel 27:10

A few years ago while shopping at Costco, I stopped to watch a demonstration of a Vitamix. It was a very compelling presentation that convinced us of the need of purchasing one. In the course of the demonstration, I learned that the company had a very well-thought-out marketing process that included a multiple number of roadshows of this product. Roadshows are designed to give a presentation of a company’s product and enhance its visibility. Achish asked David, “Whither have ye made a road to day?” He asked him if he had made any inroads. He asked him if he had opened new opportunities. He asked him if he had made any accomplishments. Where have you made inroads in your life?

Where have you made inroads in your growth?

The Christian life is a life of growth. We are exhorted to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We are to add to our faith virtue, and to virtue knowledge, and to knowledge temperance, and to temperance patience, and to patience godliness, and to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness charity. Growth is essential to being strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Are you making inroads in your growth?

Where have you made inroads in your godliness?

Godliness is likeness to the Lord. Paul tells us that bodily exercise profiteth little, but godliness is great gain. We are to live soberly, righteously, and godly. We are to conduct ourselves in godly fear. Our service to others is to be with godly sincerity. If you are living godly, you will suffer persecution. Godly people despise blasphemy and insult against our Lord. Godly people despise sin. Godly people think of God and His righteousness. Think of it this way: if we are not living a godly life, it could be that we are living an ungodly life! Are you making inroads in your godliness?

Where have you made inroads in your goals?

Everyone should establish and live by goals. Goals give you a direction. Goals require a plan of action. Goals are meant to stretch you and grow you. Successful and spiritual people live by goals. Develop goals for your Bible reading, praying, visitations, and service. Develop financial, reading, and family goals. Are you making inroads in your goals?

Where have you made inroads with the gospel?

All of us are to be distributors of the gospel message. We have been entrusted with the stewardship of the gospel. We are to make inroads on a personal level to people we are in contact with, through our local church, and in helping our missionaries abroad. We should be on the lookout for getting the gospel to anybody and everybody. Look for new people you can give the gospel to. Look for new places to pray that the gospel will be taken to. Are you making inroads with the gospel?

We must make ourselves accountable to the Lord and to others. Making inroads shows that we have thought and prayed about the opportunities that God has given us. Let’s make some roads today for God’s glory. "Whither have ye made a road to day?"

Have a vision-filled God Morning!
