Step On It!

Today’s Verse:

But God shall wound the head of his enemies, and the hairy scalp of such an one as goeth on still in his trespasses. ~Psalm 68:21

In ancient Bible times, conquering kings would take the defeated king and his generals, he make them lie down on their faces, and then he would place his foot on their necks. This publicly represented a defeated foe. It told everyone that the enemy has been conquered, defeated, and done away with.

We see the defeat of the devil.

“He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil” (1 John 3:8). When Jesus died on the cross and rose again from the dead, He put His royal feet on Satan’s neck and declared him defeated and a loser. Jesus is the God of peace Who bruises Satan under our feet (Romans 16:20a). We have the confidence that greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world. Christian friend, by the authority of the Lord Jesus Christ, you can step on Satan’s neck and declare him defeated!

We see the defeat of depravity.

“Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin” (Romans 6:6). Jesus’ death and resurrection defeated sin. We are free from the power of sin. Because Jesus lives, we live also. We are alive unto Christ. “My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous” (1 John 2:1). Our sins have been nailed to the cross. The blood of Jesus cleanses us from all sin: past, present, and future. Jesus prays for us that Satan will not sift us as wheat and that our faith will not fail. Step on the neck of sin and declare sin defeated!

We see the defeat of death.

“For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet. The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death” (1 Corinthians 15:25-26). Death is a defeated foe. It is the last enemy Jesus will wound under His feet. Death has lost its sting: the grave has lost its victory. When you are born once, you die twice. But, when you are born twice, you die only once. Our victory over death is through the Lord Jesus Christ. Rejoice that death is a defeated foe. Death cannot reign in the soul of a saved individual. Jesus gave us the victory when He wounded the head of death.

We see the defeat of discouragement.

We live in a world where we can easily be discouraged. However, our Lord has stepped on the head of discouragement and declared it a defeated foe. God is for us and not against us. “All things work together for good to them that love God.” God will never leave us, nor forsake us. We are more than conquerors through Him that loves us. We can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth us. We must lay aside every weight and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and run with patience the race that is set before us. Keep your eyes focused on Jesus, lest ye be weary and faint in your minds. Discouragement is a defeated foe. Jesus has wounded the head of discouragement!

Our God shall wound the head of the enemies. Acknowledge Jesus’ authority, and, by His power, wound the head of the enemy. Step on it, and claim the victory that is yours!

Have an all-conquering God Morning!
