The Glory of God

Today’s Verse:

The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. ~Psalm 19:1

Psalm 19 is a wonderful psalm that speaks to us about the powerful revelation of God. God reveals to us His glory through His created wonders and through His consecrated Word. Everything that God wants us to know about His glory on this side of Heaven is revealed to us. This morning, let us rejoice in the glory of God.

There is the explanation of His glory.

God’s glory is the magnificence of His Person. It is His holiness and perfection. It is the sum total of all of His attributes. The psalmist said, “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.” By looking into the heavens with all of its splendor, we can behold the glory of God. It is God’s creative genius. It is God’s comprehensive order of all things. When we look above us, we behold the powerful and awesome wonder of God’s glory.

There is the examination in His glory.

“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” God’s glory, sadly, tells us that we are sinners. It tells us that we come very short of meeting God’s demand for righteousness. God’s glory tells us that our sinful condition has found us guilty of crimes that we cannot atone for in our own ability. They must be paid for by an acceptable atonement. That payment was satisfied in full when the Lord Jesus Christ came to earth to be our perfect Substitute and Sacrifice and to die for every sinner.

There is the endearment by His glory.

“By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.” (Romans 5:2). Christ’s death on the cross and resurrection from the dead accomplish God’s will when a sinner confesses his sin and calls upon the name of the Lord to be saved. Our hope is a permanent assurance that Heaven is our home, our sins are forgiven, and we have been adopted into the family of God. God’s glory calls out to every sinner to be saved.

There is the enforcement of His glory.

“Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God” (1 Corinthians 10:31). Our prioritized goal in life is to do everything to the glory of God. We are to seek to glorify the Lord in our words and deeds. God’s glory is manifested through a life that is surrendered to promoting God’s interest and mission. It is a life that lives out His excellence. To do less than our best is to dishonor God. To live a life other than a Spirit-filled life is less than honoring to God. Our utmost for the Lord is to live for His glory.

Does God’s glory enthrall your heart? Are you prompted to do and give your best for His glory? Take some time this morning to be sure that your life is being lived for His glory!

Have a God-glorifying Morning!
