Today's Verse:

But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall. ~Malachi 4:2

Malachi 4 is prophetic in its message. In this chapter, we see the judgment of sinners. "For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the LORD of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch" (Malachi 4:1). I believe the judgment spoken of here refers to the time when Jesus will come with the army of Heaven at His Second Coming. However, in Malachi 4:2 we see something else. We see Jesus and His saints. God’s people, who are alive and living for Him on Earth at His Second Coming, are promised preservation and blessing.

We see the priority of reverence.

“But unto you that fear my name....” The fear of God’s name speaks of the holy reverence that God’s people are to render to Him. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Our baseline responsibility to the Lord is to fear Him always. This is a reverential fear where we have the proper respect and attitude of worship towards God at all times. We are to fear God as our Father and sovereign Lord (Malachi 1:6). We are to fear God in all manner of service (Malachi 2:6). They that fear the Lord and think often of Him also speak often one to another. Their names are recorded in God’s book of remembrance (Malachi 3:16). We live in a time when God’s name is profaned and His glory is not respected. Let us not forget that changing times demand that we remain stalwart in our fear of the Lord.

We see a prolific radiance.

“But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise.” The Sun of righteousness speaks of our Lord Jesus Christ. He is the Light of the World. It is fitting that He is described as the radiant sun. However, He is called the Sun of Righteousness. He is the bright and morning star. He lights up the faith of everyone who fears His name. He is the rising sun in a world darkened by the corruption that is in this world through sin. At a time of darkness, the Sun of righteousness arises. At a time when all hope seems gone, and the sun, moon, and stars have not appeared for many days, the Sun of righteousness arises. His radiance opens up the skies darkened by the clouds and overcast.

We see a powerful remedy.

“But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings.” Like a bird with a massive wingspan, our Lord extends His healing power over everyone who fears His name. He heals the broken hearts and wounded spirits. He heals the discouraged souls who feel like all hope is gone. He heals the sorrowing hearts of those overcome with grief. His healing makes every broken spirit whole. His healing gives peace where there had been turmoil. His wings bring us under the shadow of the Almighty and into the secret place of the Most High.

We see a prosperous realization.

“But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall.” Trials and troubles are opportunities for spiritual growth. Just as a young calf grows and eventually must leave the stall, we experience unprecedented growth in our prayer life and walk with God.

Let the brightness of His holiness shine in your darkness and give you healing from your broken heart and wounded spirit.

Have a radiant God Morning!
