To the Glory of God

Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God. ~1 Corinthians 10:31

Before I was saved, I lived for myself. All that mattered to me was what I got out of something. As long as I got the credit, that was all that mattered to me. However, when Jesus came into my life as my Savior, my life priority changed. Life is no longer about living for myself. Life is about doing everything to and for the glory of God. In our devotion this morning, Paul summarizes what should be the #1 priority of every Christian: doing all to the glory of God.

There is the meaning.

The glory of God is His holiness and the excellence of His Person. The glory of God speaks of all exaltation and honor going to God. God alone is deserving of our praise and honor. God alone is deserving of our sacrifices and worship. The glory of God is an imperfect world seeing a perfect, holy, and righteous God.

There is the ministry.

Everything that we do in life is to honor and please God. To do all to the glory of God is to make sure that I give more than 100% in my effort to God. It is making sure that I make the Lord look good. It is making sure that I put effort into bringing other people into His presence. It is giving God all the glory. We must deflect any praise that is given to us to God. It is wrong for us to accept or take any credit for anything that we have done, knowing that without the Lord, it could not have been done.

There is the motivation.

Doing everything to the glory of God moves us to action. Doing everything to the glory of God will move us to tears. Doing everything to the glory of God moves us to do things right and to do them well. Doing everything to the glory of God drives us to exceed the expectations of those around us. It is the adrenaline that keeps us going. It is the impetus that keeps us positive. It is the difference between someone who is saved and someone who is not.

There is the merchandise.

When we do things for the glory of God, we electrify the moment. It is a worship service where we know that God met with us. It is a service that is done with a special touch. It is a worship that leaves a lasting fragrance upon us. It is souls that are saved and added to Heaven’s roll. It is spiritual growth that transforms other lives. It is the difference between excellence and mediocrity.

Everything that we do should be to the glory of God. Take time this morning to assess if everything that you do is for God’s glory or for your benefit. Take the necessary steps to make it your priority to give God the glory in everything. Live your life so that God gets the glory!

Have a God-glorifying God Morning!
