It's All Good!

August 30, 2018

Today's Verse:

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. ~Romans 8:28

When things are going well, we might sometimes say, “It’s all good.” In the Christian life, there are no such things as disasters or tragedies. God has a plan and purpose for every life. Paul said in Phil. 2:13, “For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.” This morning, we are looking at a promise of Scripture that tells us, “It’s all good!”

We see the comprehension of this promise.

Paul said, “We know.” We know that God has our best interest in mind. We know that God loves us. We know that God always means everything in our life for good. We know that God is in complete control. The story is told of a father whose son was killed in a terrible accident. He came to his pastor and in great anger said, "Where was God when my son died?" The pastor thought for a moment and said, "The same place He was when His Son died." We know!

We see the comprehensiveness of this promise.

Paul said, “All things work together for good.” All things working together for good include the good and the bad. It includes good times and bad times. It includes happy times and times of suffering. All things mean what we don’t understand. All things mean what we cannot see.  All things mean the hurt that accompanies them. When we hurt, have sorrow, and are overwhelmed by uncertainties, it might not feel like all things work together for good, but they do.

We see the company for this promise.

Paul said, “All things work together for good to them that love God.” We love God because He first loved us. Loving God is our highest priority in life. We are to love God with all of our heart, mind, soul, and body. This promise has very special meaning to those who love God. When we love God as we should, we see everything that transpires in our life as part of our walk of faith. We see things as God’s big plan being worked out in us. We see God using the situation we are going through to grow and mature us. We experience God’s grace giving us strength when we are weak. The closer we get to God, the more we understand His love at work in us.

We see the consolation in this promise.

Paul said, “For good...” Nothing that God places in our life is evil or bad. It is for good! If anyone went through tough times, it was Joseph. He was hated, betrayed, and sold into slavery by his brothers. He was falsely accused by Potiphar’s wife and imprisoned. The butler that he helped forgot all about Joseph, and he languished two more years in prison. However, God was working things together for good. In God’s timing, Joseph was released from prison and became the most important man in Egypt’s economy. Years later, he joyfully told his brothers, “You meant it for evil, but God meant it for good.” There is good in what God does, but we must be patient and wait on Him to help us understand this good.

We see the completeness in this promise.

Paul spoke of “them who are the called according to his purpose.” What is God’s purpose? That we be conformed into the image of His Son. God’s purpose is the work of sanctification. He is molding us so that we are becoming walking images of Jesus to the people of this world.

Yes, it’s all good! It’s all good because God loves us and has a supreme and wonderful plan that He is working out for our lives. Whatever you are going through or about to go through, just remember, “It’s all good.”

Have a satisfying God Morning!
