Breached Walls

Today's Verse

Let us go up against Judah, and vex it, and let us make a breach therein for us, and set a king in the midst of it, even the son of Tabeal: ~Isaiah 7:6

The king of Israel and the king of Syria made an alliance to fight with the king of Judah. This evil alliance said, “Let us go up against Judah, and vex it, and let us make a breach therein for us.” The phrase “make a breach therein” means to rip open, divide, or break down. Cities were protected by high exterior walls. On these walls were towers for watchmen to be on the lookout. The way into a city would be to breach the walls. These walls were a first line of defense for the safety of a city. This morning, who or what is trying to breach your walls?

We see the rivals.

We know that Satan, the world, and the flesh are our spiritual enemies. We see the sinister of these rivals. These enemies attack us when we are not watching. They attack us where we have weakness. They attack us when we are weary. They are studying us and waiting for the opportune time to attack. We see the synergy of these rivals. They work in tandem, just like the two confederate kings. They are in agreement about breaking down our walls and defeating us. They are in agreement about wearing us out and making us fret. In the book of Nehemiah, he had to deal with Sanballat, Tobiah, and Geshem. This unholy alliance worked together to try to keep Nehemiah from rebuilding the broken walls. Remember, our enemies are watching us to attack our walls.

We see the risks.

These enemies attack the walls of our faith. They attack our Bible reading and prayer time. They attack our witnessing opportunities. They want to put a breach in our spiritual life to keep us from having a close walk with God. These enemies attack the walls of our family. They seek to divide husbands and wives, and parents and children. They attack siblings and seek to divide them. These enemies attack the walls of the fold. By this, I am referring to the local church. They want to divide our fellowship with one another. They want to break a church into fragments. Everything important to us is at risk of being breached. There is nothing sacred to these enemies. They are merciless, mercenary, and malicious.

We see the resistance.

What do you do, knowing that your walls could be breached? First, study the walls of your life. Repair every potential breach. Second, secure the walls of your life. “Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation.” Increase your Bible reading and prayer time. Make sure that you are at every organized church service. Be a conscientious soulwinner. Third, be steadfast with the walls in your life. China built the Great Wall to keep its enemies out. The walls were breached because some guards were bribed and allowed the enemy in. Stand fast for the walls! As Paul said, “And having done all, to stand.” We have not done all that we can, but we can make this our goal. Those walls represent everything that is important for finishing strong.

Identify who is trying to breach your walls and secure them. Let them know that these walls are not falling, but are staying up and staying strong!

Have a fortified God Morning!
