A Place Prepared

June 20, 2020

Today's Verse:

And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days. ~Revelation 12:6

For several years now, my wife and I look forward to spending time at a timeshare on the island of Kauai. It is a secluded location that overlooks the ocean and has its own private beach. Before our arrival, we will have several communications with the arrival team to make sure the place is prepared for our short stay there. “A place prepared” means that everything necessary for you to enjoy your stay is done and ready upon your arrival. The phrase "a place prepared" spoke to my heart of God’s great love and care in how He takes care of us here and in the future.

We have a place prepared that we call home.

“Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared” (Exodus 23:20). God told Moses and the children of Israel of the land of promise. This would be the place they would call home: a place God prepared for them. Home is a place where there is family, love, and security, and it is a place we look forward to going to after a day’s work. It is where our memories are built and children are raised. "Except the LORD build the house…." Does your home life testify that God has prepared it?

We have a place prepared as a hold.

“And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days” (Revelation 12:6). During the midway point of the Great Tribulation, the antichrist will turn on Israel and severely persecute her. God has prepared a refuge and fortress for her where she will be safe, protected, and nourished. Wherever this is, it reminds me of how God placed Elijah by the brook Cherith and nourished him with meat delivered by the ravens and water from a diminishing brook. Our spiritual hold is when we find God in His Word and in our prayer closet and when He nourishes our souls with His presence.

We have a place prepared over our heads.

“And the LORD God prepared a gourd, and made it to come up over Jonah, that it might be a shadow over his head, to deliver him from his grief. So Jonah was exceeding glad of the gourd” (Jonah 4:6). Jonah was pitching a pity party. As the day became very hot, God made a gourd to grow where Jonah was sitting. This miraculous occurrence gave him much-needed shade. We are told that the covering made him exceeding glad. God prepares a "gourd” over our heads to cheer us when we are discouraged and distracted. Let us be careful to be thankful to the Lord more than we are thankful for the "gourd.”

We have a place prepared in Heaven.

“In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you” (John 14:2). God has prepared a place for us in Heaven. Heaven is the home of every saved person. It is the throne of God. Jesus calls it "my Father’s house." It is our eternal security. It is where we will spend eternity worshipping and serving the Lord. It is never overcrowded. It is holy and unlike any place or anything we can imagine. It is not lacking for amenities and never has to be updated. It is always colorful, beautiful, and wonderful.

God has a place prepared. God thinks well ahead of us and has things ready so that we are blessed and rejoicing in His love for us.

Have a comforted God Morning!
