I Will Build Again

June 25, 2020

Today's Verse:

After this I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down; and I will build again the ruins thereof, and I will set it up: ~Acts 15:16

Earthquake-prone areas of the world are very keen on the fact that a major earthquake can happen at any time. The people who live in area hit hard by an earthquake know that, in spite of the ruin they have experienced, they must build again. While speaking at an important gathering of the church at Jerusalem, James quotes to his audience from Amos 9:11. God said, “I will build again the ruins thereof.” Regardless of a spiritual earthquake or casualty you may have experienced in your life, you can build again!

We can build again our holiness.

God said, “Be ye holy; for I am holy.” Holiness is living a life that conforms to the Word of God and seeks to be pure in all things. We are closest to God when we are living a holy life. Living a holy life not only includes obedience to God’s Word but also much time in prayer. R.A. Torrey said, “Prayer will promote our personal holiness as nothing else, except the study of the Word of God.” Sin mars our holiness. Sin stains anything that is pure. Sin makes us filthy. However, we can build again our holiness through confession and forsaking of sin. Like Isaiah, we can ask the Lord to apply a living coal from His altar to purge us. Like Joshua the high priest, God can take away the filthy garments. The blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sin. You can build again your holiness.

We can build again our hope.

God is the God of Hope. Our hopes can be shattered when an unexpected trial or difficulty comes our way. I am thinking right now of a friend who has a relative that has had numerous health setbacks in the last two months. It seems like they take one step forward and then three steps back. This can be discouraging, and we might think that things are hopeless. However, nothing is hopeless! Christ in us is the hope of glory! God has given us a living hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. We can build again our hope! "Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding." Have faith in God’s plan for your life. "All things work together for good to them that love God." Hope is never found in the darkness: hope is always found in the light. You can build again your hope.

We can build again for a harvest.

The Jews had many encounters with hostile nations that either took away their land or devastated it through war and burning. Imagine crops and vineyards burned and ruined by the enemy. It took years to prepare the ground, sow, nurture, and reap a harvest. However, we can build again for a harvest. The work of soulwinning requires ground work, sowing, and a lot of nurturing in order to have a harvest. When the enemy has distracted us, we have to start over. Soulwinning programs that have dwindled can be built again. A missions emphasis that has lost its momentum can be re-energized. It’s hard work and it requires a lot of focus, but we can build again a harvest. "They that sow in tears shall reap in joy." The seed is in the barn, and it is time to get it out and to plant it. We can build again for a harvest!

Don’t let Satan, setbacks, sin, or slothfulness leave things in ruin or neglected. You can build again! Be committed in faith and in determination that God can work in you to build again.

Have a determined God Morning!
