Come Up Hither
After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter. ~Revelation 4:1
If you or someone whom you know lives in a two-story home, you have most likely had someone shout from the top of the second floor, “Come up here!” It’s a request to meet the other person at the top. When the Lord Jesus comes for believers at the Rapture, the three important words that will be heard by those who placed their faith in Him will be, “Come up hither!”
It will be a resurrection call.
The dead in Christ, also known as those who have placed their faith in Jesus as Savior and have predeceased us into glory, will be resurrected. They will receive glorified, incorruptible bodies just like our Lord Jesus. Their bodies will be reunited with their soul forever in eternity.
It will be a Rapture call.
After the dead in Christ are resurrected, "we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air." The Rapture will happen at the speed of the twinkling of an eye. As we are raptured, we will be changed and receive glorified bodies as well. We will become immortal and incorruptible in an instant. We will be filled with joy when we see the Lord and are joined to Him.
It will be a reunion call.
We will be reunited with loved ones in Heaven. It will be a homecoming day for believers in Jesus Christ. It will be the day when every believer’s mansion in Heaven will be completed. We will be forever with loved ones and with the Lord. It will be an eternal reunion. We will know one another, share all of eternity with each other, and serve our Lord.
It will be a recognizable call.
We will know that it is the Lord Who gives that call. Jesus said, “My sheep hear my voice...” We will recognize His voice and the nature of the call. It will be the voice that is sovereign and Lord over everything. It will command all of our attention because it is a one-of-a-kind voice. It is a voice that will be loud and audible for the saints to hear. It is a powerful voice that will awaken the dead in Christ. Those who are not Christ’s will not recognize nor be able to respond to this call.
It is a reminder call.
After we are Raptured, the world will enter into a time known as "the Great Tribulation." It will be a seven-year period in which the judgment of God will be released on planet earth. It is a reminder to the unsaved that judgment is coming. It is a reminder that the time to get saved is before the Rapture occurs. It is a reminder that we must do all that we can to win our loved ones and the lost to Christ. It is a reminder that time is running out and we must reach sinners while we can.
The call to “come up hither” is imminent. It could happen at any time. Let’s resolve to be ready for the Lord when He comes. Let us be diligent, and try to win our loved ones before it is too late. Let us be attentive since the call to “come up hither” will be soon!
Have a watchful God Morning!
