It's Worth the Wait
Today’s Verse:
But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. ~Isaiah 40:31
We live in a time when everyone wants things now and right away. We do not like to wait in long lines. We do not like to wait a long time for appointments that are running behind. We do not like to be stuck in traffic. We do not like long delays in answers that we need. However, waiting is a virtue that God develops in the Christian life. This morning, we want to see why waiting on God is a positive and beneficial necessity for us. We want to see why waiting on God is worth the wait.
There is the recurring problem.
Our life is fast-paced and filled with many stressful requirements. There is the daily stress of commuting to work. Some of my church members commute a minimum of 3 hours per day round trip and are very drained by the time they get home. There is the stress of meeting work and family demands. There is the stress of health and family trials. All of these things can drain us emotionally, physically, financially, and spiritually. We feel like we are “out of gas” and need a major fill-up in order to keep going. Weariness is a real and recurring problem at all ages and affecting all people.
There is the responsible practice.
When we are run-down, out of energy, and zapped in strength, focus, and desire, it is time to stop and realize that we need help from God. The best thing that we can do to replenish our strength and energy is to purposely wait upon the Lord. Waiting on the Lord implies setting aside time for the Lord to replenish our soul through prayer and meditation of the Scriptures. It is committing everything going on in our life to Him. It is meditating on His goodness and greatness in our life. It is focusing on our walk with Him more than focusing on how we can solve our problems. Waiting on God is the secret to obtaining God’s power on a consistent basis in our life.
There is the rewarding product.
When we wait upon the Lord, our strength is greatly renewed. We are like an eagle that mounts up with its wings and ascends to the sky above. We are renewed in our determination, duty, and direction. Isaiah said that we can run and not grow weary and we can walk and not faint. We can go extended distances in our ministry endeavors and not become overwhelmed. We can go about our daily duties and not be bogged down in spirit. We are blessed with a renewed focus and vision. We are enabled to handle multiple responsibilities for the Lord. We are able to accomplish more with maximized results.
Waiting upon the Lord is the great secret to longevity in ministry and longsuffering with people. Waiting upon the Lord is an absolute necessity in order for us to attain sustainability in living for God. It is not trusting in our power, but in God’s power, which never diminishes. Make it a daily habit to diligently wait upon the Lord for your life. It is the best thing that you can do to increase your productivity and results for His glory. It’s worth the wait!
Have a renewed God Morning!
