Many Infallible Proofs

Today’s Verse:

To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God: ~Acts 1:3

The word “infallible” means “unfailing,” “absolutely trustworthy,” “foolproof,” and “completely accurate.” Luke says that Jesus showed Himself alive after His passion by many infallible proofs. We are able to proclaim the power of the gospel message because Jesus is risen and alive. Before the Apostles set out to proclaim the gospel and turn the world upside down, we must consider the proofs that Jesus showed them for the forty days after His resurrection. Just as these proofs transformed these men, they will also transform us.

There is the proof of the abandoned GRAVE.

The first of the many proofs that Jesus is alive is the empty sepulcher. On that resurrection morning, the huge stone that covered the entry was moved away. The Roman seal was broken, and the keepers of the sepulcher were nowhere to be found. The grave clothes that Jesus was wrapped in were “laid by themselves,” and the napkin that covered His head was wrapped together and laid by itself. There was no evidence of a body that had been laid there. The evidence overwhelmingly pointed to Jesus coming out of those grave clothes and out of that sepulcher by His own power. Just as Peter and John looked inside to see for themselves, every believer of Jesus Christ must take a hard look at the evidence, and see that Jesus truly is alive.

There is the proof at the assembled GATHERING.

On the evening of the day He arose, Jesus appeared to the disciples in the room where they were assembled together. There, those fearful men saw the wounds in His hands and in His side. They saw where the nails had once been driven into His hands, and where the spear had pierced His side. Then, He partook of some fish and a honeycomb and ate with them. There in that room, the lives of the disciples were forever changed because they saw and spoke with the resurrected Christ. His physical appearance and His authoritative message moved them to a conclusive realization that He was alive and risen from the dead. Every time we assemble as believers in our local church, our services should embody the same excitement, energy, and enthusiasm that was present when Jesus met these disciples. Just as He is alive, our assembly together should give evidence that He is alive in our lives and in our midst.

There is the proof of the absolute GOSPEL.

Luke says Jesus spoke many things pertaining to the kingdom of God. These men were thoroughly ingrained with the Scriptures and on the power of the gospel message. Christians have one primary message that the world needs to hear: Jesus came to die for our sins, rose again from the dead, and offers to every sinner the forgiveness of sins and eternal life in heaven. The gospel can save every sinner from his sins! The gospel is that Jesus saves! The gospel does not and cannot fail! The preaching of the gospel is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth. The faith of the gospel proclaims that whosoever calls on the name of the Lord can be saved. The furtherance of the gospel is the goal of propagating it around the world to every creature. The fire of the gospel is His Word burning in our hearts to declare it to everyone we can.

The greatest proof in your life and mine is the evidence of a transformed life. Has the gospel transformed you? Do you get up every day with a fire and purpose in your heart to tell the gospel? Do you live your life in victory or defeat? What proofs are evident in your life that Jesus is alive and risen from the dead? Let your light so shine, that men may glorify your Father which is in heaven!

Have a purposeful God Morning!
